    Habit
    Robust liane or shrub, minutely rusty puberulent on young shoots and inflorescence
    Leaves
    Leaves with petiole 1–8.5(–11.5) mm long; lamina obovate, oblong, lanceolate- or ovate-oblong or occasionally elliptic, (1.6–)2.5–7.4(–9.4) × 0.6–2.3(–3.4) cm, apex acute, obtuse or rounded, occasionally retuse, often apiculate, base rounded or subcuneate, young leaves with scattered hairs on both surfaces, mature leaves coriaceous, glabrescent, lower surface smooth or minutely but densely tuberculate-papillate
    Inflorescences
    Cymes arranged in axillary or terminal, pyramidal or corymbose panicles, rusty-puberulent except for the corolla, the inflorescence 10–55 × 10–45 mm.
    Flowers
    Flowers scented with a faint musty odour.
    Peduncles
    Peduncles 4–12 mm to first inflorescence branch, subsequent internodes of similar length.
    Pedicel
    Pedicels 1–4 mm long
    Calyx
    Calyx lobes broadly ovate, 0.5–1 × 0.5–1 mm, obtuse or subacute
    Corolla
    Corolla greenish-yellow or white, rotate, 1.5–3 mm long, lobed almost to the base, the tube 0.5–1 mm long, lobes ovate, convex, 1–2 × 0.8–1 mm, glabrous on the outer face, pubescent with spreading white hairs inside except for the glabrous margin
    Corona
    Corolline corona absent. Staminal corona lobes equalling or usually exceeding the staminal column, subulate, erect or incurved over the tips of the anthers
    Style
    Stylar head appendage shorter than the anthers or exserted for up to ± 0.2 mm, the apical part truncate, angled but not 2-lobed
    Fruits
    Follicles widely divergent, dark greenish brown, 4.5–8(–10) × 0.3–0.8 cm, tapering to a long point, striate
    Seeds
    Seeds dark reddish brown, linear-lanceolate, (4–)8–12 × 1–2 mm, channelled down one face, somewhat flattened, one face concave, the other convex, glabrous
    Ecology
    Montane forest; 1300–2000 m
