    Habit
    Perennial. Rhizomes short; pachymorph. Culms arching, or leaning; slender; 152-260 cm long; woody. Culm-internodes terete. Lateral branches dendroid. Branch complement two, or three; with subequal branches. Culm-sheaths deciduous. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades lanceolate.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescence composed of racemes, or comprising only a few spikelets. Racemes single; bearing few fertile spikelets; bearing 2-4 fertile spikelets on each.
    Spikelets
    Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets; with diminished florets at the apex. Spikelets oblanceolate; laterally compressed; 12.45-18 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret. Rhachilla internodes elongated below proximal fertile floret.
