    Annual. Culms decumbent; 35-40 cm long; rooting from lower nodes. Ligule a fringe of hairs. Leaf-blades linear, or lanceolate; 5-10 cm long; 4-10 mm wide. Leaf-blade apex acute.

    Inflorescence a panicle. Panicle open; oblong; 7-10 cm long. Primary panicle branches ascending. Panicle branches flexuous. Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled.

    Spikelets comprising 1 basal sterile florets; 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets orbicular; dorsally compressed; 1.5-2 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret.
