    Habit
    Perennial, prostrate, mat-forming herb.
    Stem
    Stems up to several dm. long, rooting at the nodes, glabrous or pubescent.
    Leaves
    Leaves with lamina narrowly ovate to suborbicular or subreniform, 3–7 mm. long, 2–6 mm. wide, rounded to subacute at the apex, truncate to cordate or attenuate at the base, dentate or crenate, glabrous or ± pubescent above only; petiole up to 3 mm. long, glabrous or sparsely pubescent.
    Flowers
    Flowers scattered in leaf-axils; pedicels 1–10 (–28) mm. long, glabrous or pubescent; bracteoles at the base of the pedicel, linear, minute.
    Hypanthium
    Hypanthium subglobose to obconical, glabrous or pubescent.
    Calyx
    Calyx-lobes 1–2(–4.5) mm. long, entire, glabrous or ciliate.
    Corolla
    Corolla 4–7 (–10) mm. long, blue with 2 whitish bumps in the mouth of the tube, split on the back to 0.5–1 mm. from the base, glabrous or pubescent outside, pubescent inside at the bottom of the tube.
    Filaments
    Filaments connate above, ± pubescent, attached to the corolla-tube at the base.
    Anthers
    Anther-tube 0.8–1.2 (–1.4) mm. long, glabrous or hairy on the back; 2 lower anthers each with a tuft of hairs and a hyaline appendage at the apex.
    Ovary
    Ovary subinferior.
    Fruits
    Capsule glabrous or pubescent, with 2 valves 0.5–1.5 mm. long; inferior part of capsule 2–3.5 mm. long, usually subglobose.
    Seeds
    Seeds elliptic in outline, somewhat compressed, 0.5–0.6 mm. long, finely striate, brown.
    Habitat
    Upland grassland and moor, forest margins, usually on moist ground; 2125–3350 m.
