    Habit
    Tree or shrub 4–10(18) m. tall with rough mottled grey bark, red on inner side; branches striate and lenticellate.
    Leaves
    Leaves 4.5–11 x 1.5–2.5 cm., oblong to oblong-lanceolate or elliptic, acute at the apex, cuneate at the base, shiny above, paler beneath, densely pellucid-dotted; petiole 2–5 mm. long.
    Flowers
    Flowers solitary or in short 3-flowered cymes; peduncle 2–3 mm. long; bracts 0.5 mm. long, deciduous leaving conspicuous scars; pedicels c. 1.5 mm. long.
    Calyx
    Sepals 2 x 3 mm., minutely ciliate.
    Corolla
    Petals: outer 4–5 x 3 mm., obovate, concave, subcoriaceous; inner yellow, 4 x 1.5 mm. spathulate, thinner.
    Stamens
    Staminal tube 3–4 mm. long; anthers 1.5 mm. long.
    Ovary
    Ovary 3 mm. long; ovules 15–20.
    Fruits
    Fruits reddish-blue, 2–3 x 1.5–2.5 cm.; pericarp coriaceous, wrinkled; seeds several, flattened.
