    General Description
    Stem robust, erect, or briefly scandent; internodes 3-5 cm long, 3-4 cm diam.; cataphylls coriaceous, persisting, linear-lanceolate, long. LEAVES: Petiole robust, subcylindrical, unisulcate adaxially, 6-8 dm [60 - 80 cm] long; geniculum 2-3 cm long; sheath to 1.5 dm [15 cm] long; blades cartilaginous, shiny, green on both sides, oval-oblong, about twice as long as wide; posterior lobes obtuse, retrorse, connivent, about 1/4 as long as anterior lobe; sinus parabolic; veins of the posterior lobes 6-7 joined in ribs + naked in the sinus (4-6 cm); 2 pairs together with two (pairs of) interlobar veins and 15-18 pairs primary lateral veins, spreading at about a 45 degree angle, joined into a collective vein close to the margin and often interrupted. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle equalling or overtopping petiole, robust, subcylindrical; spathe subcoriaceous, linear-lanceolate, 2-2.5 dm [20 - 25 cm] long, 4-5 cm wide, narrowed gradually below, attached decidedly obliquely at the base, longer-decurrent antrorsely, subulate at the apex; spadix 2-3 times longer than spathe, 3-5 dm [30 - 50 cm] long, 7-8 mm diam., cylindrical, flexible, pendulous, green-lead coloured, stipitate to 4 cm, the stipe adnate to the middle of spathe; tepals 2-3 times longer than wide; ovary oblong- somewhat four-angled, conical at the apex.
