    General Description
    Stem erect, thick; internodes very short. LEAVES: Petiole erect, longer than blade, 8 dm [80 cm] long, sulcate, flattened at the side, sheathed briefly at the base, dark glandular-dotted geniculum about 2 cm long [apparently both petiole and blade are black dotted]; blade deep green, oval, almost twice as long as wide, obliquely truncated from the base, blunt at the apex, 7-9-veined, 5-7 dm [50 - 70 cm] long, 3-3.5 dm [30 - 35 cm] wide, midrib thick below, keeled, strongly angled, not coalesced with basal veins, 1st basal vein extending into the apex, the outermost merging in the margin below the middle of the blade. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle slender, rigid, flattened and angled upwards, more slender and longer than the petiole, nearly 1 m long; spathe lanceolate, gradually narrowed to base, longer than juvenile spadix; spadix briefly stipitate in front (about 5 mm), cylindrical, 1 dm [10 cm] long, slender, infructescence to 3 cm [surely 3 dm!] long, 2.5 m [surely cm] diam.
