    Stem well branched, quadrangular, pubescent with retrorse hairs, longer ones along the angles
    Leaf blades narrowly to broadly ovate, 2–8 × 1–5 cm, serrate, acute to obtuse at apex, mostly rounded to truncate at base, pubescent on both surface, more densely so beneath; petiole of main leaves 2–5 cm long, shorter above
    Inflorescences terminal, branched, proliferating on short flowering branches, ultimately forming a large candelabra-like compound inflorescence; floral branches rather dense with numerous scorpioid cymes; cymes usually in pairs from a short common peduncle, many-flowered, secund, with the calyces pointing upwards, comb-like (pectinate); bracts leaf-like below, smaller above; bracteoles linear to setaceous, 2–4 mm long
    Calyx 2–2.5(–5.5 in fruit) mm long, pubescent, with a conspicuous tuft of white hairs in the throat; lobes subulate, a little longer than the tube
    Corolla whitish to pale mauve, with the middle lobe of the anterior lip sometimes darker or striped, 2.5–3.5 mm long, pubescent
    Nutlets black, oblongellipsoid, 0.9–1 mm long, smooth
