    Rhizome short, with tufted fronds and with dense ferrugineous concolorous entire lanceolate-acuminate scales ± 1 cm long
    Fronds tufted, arching.
    Stipe up to 12 cm long, stramineous, glabrous except for scales, similar to those on the rhizome, mostly in a dense basal tuft.
    Leaf lamina
    Lamina softly herbaceous, up to 33 × 30 cm, ovate-triangular in outline, 4-pinnatifid with the basal pinnae developed basiscopically.
    Rachis stramineous, pilose.
    Pinnae up to 22 cm long, oblong-acute in outline towards the apex, unequally triangular-ovate at the base; pinnules of the upper pinnae and basiscopic pinnule-segments of the lowest pinnae up to 2 × 0.9 cm, deeply pinnatifid into oblong obtuse crenate lobes, pilose with unicellular hairs on both surfaces
    Sori subcircular, up to 12 per pinnule (or pinnule-segment of basal pinnae), 1–1.5 mm in diameter; indusium reniform, pilose with straight white unicellular hairs

    Widespread; least concern (LC)
    An incredibly erratic species known from single widely scattered localities throughout its range in tropical Africa, apparently only found once in the Flora area.
    Range: Congo-Kinshasa, Sudan, Ethiopia, Angola, Zambia, South Africa; Madagascar, Mascarene Is.; Arabia; Cape Verde Is., India, Malaya, Philippines, Indochina, China, Japan and Polynesia Flora districts: K5
