    Rhizome shortly creeping, ± 5 cm in diameter

    Fronds laxly tufted or shortly spaced, 1.1–2.5 m tall Pinnae linear-oblong, 15–23 cm long, 2.5–3.5 cm wide, narrowly attenuate at the apex, truncate or rounded at the base, crenate; lobes up to 4 mm long, 6 mm wide; veins 8 with 4–5 anastomosing with zigzag excurrent vein

    Stipe straw-coloured, 30–80 cm long
    Leaf lamina
    Lamina ± oblong in outline, 0.6–1.1 m long, 13–40 cm wide, the lower pinnae not reduced, the upper segment resembling the pinnae and with a gemma at its base.

    Rachis and sometimes costa shortly hairy above, glabrous or minutely hairy beneath
    Indusium
    Indusium absent.
    Ecology
    Swampy places on floor of evergreen forest, riverine forest; 1200–1300 m
    Note
    I am not convinced about the specific distinctness of this and P. unita. Alston confused them and Holttum (on determination labels admits to intermediates). I have followed him until more field work is done.
