    General Description

    Acaulescent terrestrials or lithophytes with large, fan- shaped growths. Leaves linear-ligulate, acute, distichous, to 50 X 6 cm. Inflorescences terminal, few-branched panicles to 1m, puberulent, with scattered large bracts. Flowers showy, the dorsal sepal greenish-brown with darker venation, the petals basally green, apically purple, the lip tannish-brown with overlay of reddish spots; dorsal sepal elliptic, obtuse, 28 X 15 mm, the lateral sepals connate for entire length, the resulting structure broadly ovate-elliptic. obtuse, 28 X 15 mm; petals ligulate, obtuse, undulate at margin, sometimes twisted, apically ciliate, 40 X 8 mm; lip pouched, the lateral lobes inflexed, 30 X 14 mm; column short, terminating in 3-lobed staminode. Ovary puberulent.
