    Shrub or small tree, densely tomentose with branched and simple hairs
    Leaves
    Leaves large, subcoriaceous
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescence densely thyrsoid with cymes 3-5-flowered
    Bracts
    Bracts much smaller than leaves, broad, caducous, bracteoles caducous
    Calyx
    Calyx 5(-7)-lobed, lobes equal or subequal (3/2)
    Corolla
    Corolla weakly 2-lipped, 4-lobed (1/3), white to purple, posterior lip short, scarcely hooded, emarginate, corolla-tube not annulate
    Stamens
    Stamens long-exserted, anthers wider than long, appearing transversally dehiscent , thecae confluent
    Stigma
    Stigma-lobes subequal
    Fruits
    Nutlets cylindric-oblong, truncate, with subsessile glands.
    Note
    2n = 44.  One species, L. canum Sm.
    Ecology
    Mostly at forest margins and in secondary forest
    Distribution
    From Tibet, Nepal and Northern India to Southern China and Vietnam.
