    Habit
    Straggling or suberect annual or perennial herb 0.7(–2) m. tall; stems glabrous, not markedly angular.
    Leaves
    Leaf-blades narrowly elliptic to lanceolate, 2–5(–8.5) cm. long, 0.4–1.35(–2.2) cm. wide, narrowly acute at the apex, narrowly cuneate at the base, glabrous save for slightly scabrid margins; petiole 1.5–2.5 mm. long; stipule-base 1–2.5 mm. long, glabrous or slightly pubescent with 7 setae 1.5–3 mm. long.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescences rather few-flowered, congested in the axils.
    Calyx
    Calyx-tube narrowly obconic, 1.5 mm. long; 2 large calyx-lobes triangular, 0.5 mm. long, ± 3 small.
    Corolla
    Corolla white, papillate, very small; tube 0.2–0.5 mm. long; lobes triangular, 0.5–1.5 mm. long, 0.4 mm. wide, usually hairy at and above the throat.
    Anthers
    Anthers subsessile.
    Style
    Style 0.5–2 mm. long.
    Fruits
    Capsule obovoid to ellipsoid, 2.5–3 mm. long, glabrous, crowned with ± persistent calyx-lobes.
    Seeds
    Seeds dark purple or chestnut-brown, ellipsoid, 2 mm. long.
    Habitat
    Forest clearing; 500 m.
