    Habit
    Perennial herb, subscapigerous; crown of rootstock densely woolly and covered with remnants of old leaf-bases; stems 1–2, erect, 20–54 cm high, arachnoid-lanate.
    Leaves
    Basal leaves sessile, oblanceolate, 5–16 cm long, 0.4–3 cm wide, gradually tapered into a basally slightly expanded and sheathing petioloid base, margins subentire or indistinctly crenate-dentate in distal part, apex shortly acuminate, green and almost glabrous above, green and sparsely villous beneath; stem leaves smaller and becoming progressively smaller up the stem, sessile, oblong-lanceolate, base semi-amplexicaul, apex shortly acuminate.
    Capitulum
    Capitula radiate, ± 4 in a lax terminal corymb; stalks of the individual capitula woolly; involucre broadly hemispherical, 9–11 mm long, 10–15 mm in diameter, woolly at base; bracts of calyculus ± 10, narrowly lanceolate, 6–7 mm long; phyllaries ± 18–20, lanceolate, 8–12 mm long, laxly villous, shortly bearded at apex.
    Florets
    Ray florets 10–12, yellow, corolla tube 5–6 mm long, strongly pubescent, rays 11–18 mm long, 3.5 mm wide, 10-veined; disc florets deep yellow, corolla 9 mm long, tube slightly expanded above the middle, pubescent at and below the middle, lobes 1–1.5 mm long, triangular.
    Fruits
    Achenes 4–5 mm long, shortly hairy; pappus 8 mm long, white.
