    Habit
    Shrub 60–100 cm high; stems erect, branched, leafy, sparsely arachnoid-pubescent, glabrescent.
    Leaves
    Leaves sessile, crowded, linear, 2.6–8 cm long, 0.07–0.15 cm wide, slightly expanded but exauriculate at base, remotely serrulate with revolute margins, apex slightly attenuate and obtuse to acute, glabrous or nearly so.
    Capitulum
    Capitula radiate, erect, terminal, solitary or more often in small cymes; stalks of the individual capitula shortly pubescent or arachnoid-pubescent; involucre broadly cylindrical, 6–8 mm long, 4–5 mm in diameter; bracts of calyculus 14–16, lanceolate, 1.5–3.5 mm long, obtuse, dark-coloured, shortly ciliate on margins or at least near the apex; phyllaries 18–22, 5–7.5 mm long, glabrous, dark-tipped.
    Florets
    Ray florets 12–14, yellow, tube 2.8 mm long, hairy, rays ± 13 x 2.5 mm; disc florets yellow, corolla 4–4.8 mm long, expanded above the middle, glabrous, lobes 0.5 mm long.
    Fruits
    Achenes 2–2.5 mm long, ribbed, shortly hairy in the grooves; pappus 3.5–4.5 mm long.
    Habitat
    Moorlands with grasses and giant heath; 3000–4150 m
    Distribution
