    Habit
    Perennial herb, 45–60 cm high, precocious, subscapigerous; stems erect, solitary or paired, appearing before the basal leaves, dull dark green or maroon, slightly arachnoid to almost glabrous.
    Leaves
    Basal leaves unknown; stem leaves narrow, lanceolate, 2.5–6.5 cm long, 0.4–0.6 cm wide, attenuate, scale-like, slightly arachnoid to almost glabrous.
    Capitulum
    Capitula discoid, erect, 7–20 in terminal corymbs; branches and stalks of the individual capitula slightly arachnoid to almost glabrous; involucre broadly cylindrical, 6–7 mm long, 6–7 mm in diameter, somewhat pubescent or arachnoid at base; bracts of calyculus 3–8, lanceolate, 2–3 mm long, sparsely arachnoid; phyllaries 10–14, dull dark green, 6–7 mm long, glabrous, abruptly tapered and ciliate-bearded at the apex.
    Florets
    Ray florets 0; disc florets lemon yellow to yellow, corolla 4.7–6 mm long, glabrous, the tube gradually expanded above the middle, lobes 0.7–1 mm long.
    Fruits
    Mature achenes unknown, but ovary of disc florets 1 mm long, glabrous; pappus 4–6 mm long, white.

    Grassland; 1450–1900 m
