Perennial climber; stems twining, rarely prostrate, up to 2 m. long, hairy.

Leaf-blade triangular-oblong or oblong-ovate, rarely narrow, 3–8.5 cm. long, 2.3–6 cm. wide, acute at the apex, cordate or rarely subhastate at the base, pilose particularly on the veins below, becoming glabrescent or glabrous, rarely very hairy; petiole up to 3.5 cm. long.

Inflorescence hairy, capitate, densely bracteate; peduncle 2.5–11.5 cm. long.
