    Habit
    Perennial glabrous aquatic herb; stem little branched, up to 15(–30) cm. long, soft and fleshy, ribbed and angular when dry, rooting at the lower nodes.
    Leaves
    Leaves sessile, lanceolate to broadly lanceolate, 0.7–1(–2) cm. long, 0.15–0.2(–0.5) cm. broad, apex obtuse or bluntly acute, base of opposite leaves shortly united to form a sheath 0.5(–1.5) mm. high.
    Flowers
    Flowers 4-merous, axillary, 3–10(–14) per axil; pedicels 2(–3) mm. long.
    Calyx
    Calyx-lobes bluntly-triangular, (0.3–)0.7 mm. long, 0.5 mm. wide.
    Corolla
    Petals oblong-obovate, 1.5(–2.5) mm. long, 0.7 mm. wide, obtuse, white.
    Stamens
    Stamen-filaments (0.6–)1 mm. long; anther subglobose, ± 0.1 mm. high.
    Nectaries
    Nectary scales linear-cuneate, 0.4–0.6 mm. long, ± 0.2 mm. wide, truncate.
    Carpels
    Carpels oblong-obovate, 0.8 mm. long, 0.4 mm. wide, truncate with short lateral style.
    Seeds
    Seeds 1 per carpel, oblong, 0.4 mm. long, minutely papillate.
    Habitat
    Aquatic, among rocks; 2250 m.
