    Stamens 2 fertile (posterior pair reduced to staminodes), included to slightly exserted, filaments glabrous, thecae nearly parallel, asymmetrical (one theca attached higher than other), separate at dehiscence

    Note
    2n = 18.  One species, Stachydeoma graveolens (A. Gray) Small. Differs from Hedeoma in chromosome number and asymmetrical anthers.
