    Habit
    Procumbent to straggling perennial herb; stems up to 2 m. long, though generally less, moderately branched, often becoming rather woody and up to 6–7 mm. in diameter below, green or reddish tinged, rooting at the lower nodes, glabrous or sparsely pubescent in the younger parts.
    Leaves
    Leaves spirally arranged; petiole 1–8.8(–9) cm. long, slender; lamina ovate to ovate-lanceolate or ovate-elliptical, 3.5–14.5(–16) cm. long, 2.2–7.5 cm. broad, the base rounded to slightly attenuate, the apex acuminate, glabrous or sparsely pubescent on both surfaces; lateral veins 7–12 pairs; margin crenate to crenate-dentate, with several 1.5–2.5 mm. long fimbriae towards, and at, the base.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescence a 2–8-flowered subumbellate raceme borne on the upper leaf-axils; flowers rose-pink or deep red.
    Peduncles
    Peduncle 2.8–8(–10.5) cm. long, glabrous or pubescent.
    Bracts
    Bracts linear-lanceolate, 4–6 mm. long, usually pubescent, persistent.
    Pedicel
    Pedicels 1–4 cm. long, slender, ± pubescent.
    Calyx
    Lateral sepals linear-lanceolate, 3–6 mm. long, ± pubescent. Lower sepal narrowly navicular, 12–15 mm. long, 4–7 mm. deep, abruptly constricted into a 30–40 mm. long curved filiform spur, glabrous or pubescent.
    Corolla
    Lateral united petals 20–38 mm. long; upper petal narrowly oblong, 5–10 mm. long, 2–4 mm. broad, entire; lower petal ± ovate, 16–28 mm. long, 12–23 mm. broad, distally with a slight emargination along the inner margin. Dorsal petal 10–13 mm. long, 5–7 mm. broad, cucullate.
    Ovary
    Ovary glabrous.
    Fruits
    Fruit fusiform, ± 16–17 mm. long and 4–6 mm. broad, glabrous.
