Morphology General Habit
Annual; caespitose. Culms geniculately ascending; 5-30 cm long. Leaf-sheaths pilose. Leaf-sheath oral hairs ciliate. Leaf-sheath auricles falcate. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Leaf-blades 2-5 cm long; 2-3 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface glabrous, or pilose.

Inflorescence composed of racemes; deciduous as a whole. Racemes 1; single; lanceolate; bilateral; 1.5-2 cm long; bearing few fertile spikelets; bearing 2-3(-4) fertile spikelets on each.
