Morphology General Habit
Annual. Culms weak; 15-30 cm long. Lateral branches lacking. Leaf-sheaths smooth; glabrous on surface. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 2 mm long; erose. Leaf-blades 5-10 cm long; 1-2 mm wide; flaccid; aromatic. Leaf-blade margins scabrous.

Lemma of upper sterile floret oblong; 5 mm long; chartaceous; pubescent; dentate; 2 -fid; obtuse; awned.
