    Habit
    Perennial; caespitose; clumped densely. Rhizomes short; pachymorph. Culms erect; nodding at the tip, or drooping at the tip; 900-1000 cm long; 50-60 mm diam.; woody. Culm-internodes terete; thin-walled; distally glabrous, or hispid. Lateral branches dendroid. Branch complement several; with 1 branch dominant. Culm-sheaths deciduous; coriaceous; hispid; with appressed hairs; auriculate; with equal auricles; ciliate on shoulders. Culm-sheath ligule 2 mm high; dentate and ciliate. Culm-sheath blade triangular; deciduous; erect; scabrid. Leaves cauline. Ligule an eciliate membrane. Collar with external ligule. Leaf-blade base with a brief petiole-like connection to sheath. Leaf-blades lanceolate. Leaf-blade margins scabrous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.
