    Glume
Glumes persistent; similar; shorter than spikelet. Lower glume elliptic, or oblong; 5-8 mm long; 0.5-0.6 length of upper glume; chartaceous; without keels; 5-7 -veined. Lower glume surface pubescent. Lower glume apex acute. Upper glume elliptic, or oblong; 10-13 mm long; 1.1 length of adjacent fertile lemma; chartaceous; without keels; 7(-9) -veined. Upper glume surface pubescent. Upper glume apex acute.
    Florets

Principal lemma awn apical; 3-6 mm long overall. Palea elliptic, or oblong; 1 length of lemma. Palea keels ciliolate. Palea apex emarginate, or truncate. Apical sterile florets resembling fertile though underdeveloped.
