Ligule an eciliate membrane; 3-5 mm long; erose, or lacerate. Leaf-blades 5-20 cm long; 1-3 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface scaberulous; rough adaxially; glabrous. Leaf-blade margins scaberulous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.

    Inflorescence a panicle. Panicle open; oblong, or pyramidal; 10-20 cm long. Primary panicle branches ascending; whorled at most nodes; 3-6 cm long. Panicle axis with lower internodes 3-5 cm long; smooth. Panicle branches flexuous; scaberulous. Spikelets appressed; solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled.

    Fertile lemma lanceolate; 2.5 mm long; membranous; without keel; 5 -veined. Lemma apex awned; 1 -awned. Principal lemma awn dorsal; arising 0.75-0.85 way up back of lemma; straight; 0.5-1 mm long overall. Palea 1 length of lemma. Rhachilla extension 0.5 mm long; pilose; with 2 mm long hairs.
