    Perennial; caespitose. Culms geniculately ascending; 40-60 cm long; 3-4 -noded; rooting from lower nodes. Culm-nodes glabrous. Lateral branches lacking. Leaf-sheaths glabrous on surface, or pubescent. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 1-2 mm long; acute. Leaf-blades 5-10 cm long; 2-4 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface glabrous, or pilose.

    Inflorescence a panicle. Panicle open; linear; dense; 8-10 cm long. Primary panicle branches 1-3 cm long. Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels scabrous.

    Caryopsis with adherent pericarp. Hilum punctiform. Disseminule comprising a floret.
