    Annual; culms solitary, or caespitose. Culms erect; 15-75 cm long. Culm-nodes glabrous, or pubescent. Leaf-sheaths 3-14 cm long; pilose; with tubercle-based hairs; outer margin hairy. Ligule a fringe of hairs; 2 mm long. Leaf-blades 7-15 cm long; 3-6 mm wide. Leaf-blade venation with 7-19 secondary veins. Leaf-blade surface scabrous; pubescent; with tubercle-based hairs. Leaf-blade margins cartilaginous; scabrous. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.

    Inflorescence a panicle. Peduncle 2-10 cm long. Panicle open; elliptic; 5-20 cm long; 2-10 cm wide. Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels filiform; 3-20 mm long; eglandular, or glandular; scabrous.
