    Annual. Culms prostrate; 5-20 cm long. Leaf-sheaths glabrous on surface; outer margin hairy. Ligule a fringe of hairs; 1 mm long. Leaf-blades lanceolate, or ovate; 1.5-5 cm long; 5-9 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface glabrous, or hispid. Leaf-blade margins scabrous.

    Inflorescence a panicle. Panicle open, or contracted; ovate; 1-4 cm long. Primary panicle branches ascending. Panicle branches scabrous. Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels clavate.
