    Perennial. Rhizomes short. Culms erect; 60-100 cm long. Ligule an eciliate membrane; 2-3 mm long. Leaf-blade base with a false petiole; petiole 0.5-1 cm long. Leaf-blades lanceolate; 11-23 cm long; 15-30 mm wide. Leaf-blade venation with distinct cross veins.

    Inflorescence a panicle. Panicle open; elliptic; 10-25 cm long. Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels filiform; smooth; tip cupuliform; bibracteate.

    Spikelets comprising 2 basal sterile florets; 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets lanceolate; laterally compressed; compressed slightly; 8-9 mm long; falling entire. Rhachilla internodes elongated below proximal fertile floret.

    Lodicules 2; elliptic; membranous; acute. Anthers 6. Stigmas 2.
