Upper glume apex emarginate, or obtuse; awned; 1 -awned. Upper glume awn 4-5 mm long.

    Fertile lemma oblong; 2-2.5 mm long; cartilaginous; shiny; without keel; 5 -veined. Lemma apex dentate; 4 -fid; truncate; awned; 1 -awned. Principal lemma awn from a sinus; 2-3 mm long overall; deciduous. Palea 0.6-0.7 length of lemma; hyaline.

    Lodicules 2; membranous. Anthers 3.

    Caryopsis with adherent pericarp.
