    Habit
    Annual; caespitose. Culms erect; 25-50 cm long. Culm-nodes glabrous. Leaf-sheaths glabrous on surface. Ligule a fringe of hairs. Leaf-blades flat; 5-10 cm long; 5-6 mm wide; flaccid. Leaf-blade margins tuberculate-ciliate. Leaf-blade apex acuminate.

    Inflorescence a panicle. Panicle open; lanceolate; 7-14 cm long; 1-2.7 cm wide. Primary panicle branches whorled at most nodes; 1-2 cm long. Panicle branches capillary. Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled.

    Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets lanceolate; subterete; 1.5 mm long; breaking up at maturity; disarticulating below each fertile floret.

    Fertile lemma lanceolate; 1.4 mm long; membranous; without keel; 1 -veined. Lemma apex acute. Palea 1 mm long; 2 -veined. Palea keels approximate. Palea apex truncate.
    Flowers
    Anthers 2; 0.5 mm long; yellow.
    Fruits
    Caryopsis with free soft pericarp; ovoid; laterally compressed; 1 mm long; red.
    Distribution
    Asia-tropical: Indo-China and Malesia.
