    Habit
    Perennial; caespitose. Stolons present. Culms 40-50 cm long. Ligule a fringe of hairs. Leaf-blades convolute; 25-30 cm long; 6-7 mm wide; coriaceous; stiff. Leaf-blade surface ribbed. Leaf-blade apex pungent.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescence composed of racemes. Racemes 1; single; multilateral; 8-15 cm long. Spikelets ascending; solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels oblong.

    Spikelets comprising 1 fertile florets; without rhachilla extension. Spikelets elliptic; laterally compressed; 4 mm long; falling entire.
