    Note
    Closely related to G. huillensis, but can be distinguished by the following characters:
    Habit
    Rhizomatous shrublet, 15–30 cm. high.
    Rhizomes
    Rhizome branched, red-brown, striate, with opposite or subopposite scale-leaves.
    Stem
    Stems erect, flattened, with longitudinal raised lines.
    Leaves
    Leaves opposite or subopposite, sessile or shortly petiolate; lamina 4·7–8 × (0·6) 1·5–3·5 cm., narrowly oblanceolate to obovate, acute to obtuse or rounded at the apex, sometimes with an apiculus, cuneate at the base; petiole up to 2 mm. long.
    Inflorescences
    Inflorescence terminal, sometimes also axillary.
    Flowers
    Flowers up to 20 mm. in diam. Male flowers with 4 fascicles each of 4–7 stamens.
    Corolla
    Petals up to 11 mm. long, the margin sometimes denticulate.
    Male
    Male flowers with 4 fascicles each of 4–7 stamens.
    Fruits
    Fruit bright red (or orange?).
