    Habit
    Plants 45–75 cm high.
    Corms
    Corms c. 15 mm in diameter; tunics of papery to finely fibrous layers.
    Leaves
    Foliage leaves 6–7, the lower 4 more or less basal and larger than the others, reaching to the base or middle of the spike, (2)3.5–6 mm wide, narrowly lanceolate to nearly linear, the sheaths especially of the lowermost leaves usually sparsely or sometimes densely short-pubescent, the blades occasionally so, the midrib and margins slightly thickened; upper leaves cauline and decreasing in size above, the uppermost usually entirely sheathing.

    Stem simple or 1(2)-branched.
    Inflorescences
    Spike 6–12-flowered, flexed below the first flower and inclined toward the ground; bracts green or flushed purple, becoming dry after flowering, (20)25–35(45) mm long, lanceolate, the inner slightly shorter than the outer.
    Flowers
    Flowers pink to mauve, fading to whitish in the throat, the lower 3 tepals each cream-coloured in the lower half; perianth tube c. 10 mm long, obliquely funnel-shaped, curving outwards near the apex; tepals unequal, the upper 3 larger than the rest, 22–26 × c. 12 mm (often less when dry), the uppermost inclined over the stamens, lanceolate, the lower 3 inclined toward the ground, the lower lateral tepals c. 18 mm long.
    Stamens
    Filaments 10–12 mm long, exserted 4–5 mm; anthers 7–8(10) mm long.
    Style
    Style arching behind the filaments, usually dividing at or beyond the anther apices; style branches c. 4 mm long, extending beyond the anthers, expanded above.
    Fruits
    Capsules 15–20 mm long, obovoid-ellipsoid.
