    Habit
    Erect or spreading, branching annual up to 40 cm. tall; stems pubescent or pilose when young, glabrescent when older.
    Stipules
    Stipules sublinear, up to 5 mm. long; rhachis up to 15 mm. long, including a petiole of up to 5 mm., prolonged 1–3 mm. beyond the lateral leaflets.
    Leaves
    Leaflets 1–9, 1–5 in the upper leaves which alone show on older plants, elliptic or cuneate-elliptic, up to 9 mm. long and 4 mm. wide, those of lower leaves obtuse, those of the youngest upper leaves sometimes gland-tipped.
    Inflorescences
    Racemes 2(rarely 1 or 3)-flowered; peduncle filiform, glabrous, 8–14 mm. long; bracts nil; pedicel pilose, 0.5 mm. long.
    Calyx
    Calyx 1 mm. long, divided to the middle into subulate lobes with a broadly triangular base.
    Corolla
    Corolla pubescent outside.
    Stamens
    Stamens 3.5 mm. long.
    Fruits
    Pod rather flattened, laterally ridged, 7–17 mm. long, ± 1.6 mm. wide and 1.2 mm. thick, strigulose, 5–8-seeded; endocarp spotted.
    Seeds
    Seeds rectangular, pitted.
    Habitat
    Scattered tree grassland and cultivation, especially on sand; 0–1500 m.; rainfall 600–1400 mm.
