    Habit
    Softly woody shrub up to 3 m. tall much resembling I. emarginella.
    Stem
    The stems seem usually to persist, not dying back to ground level annually.
    Leaves
    Leaflets 9–19, up to 18 mm. long and 10 mm. wide, usually more densely strigulose-pubescent than those of I. emarginella.
    Inflorescences
    Racemes usually longer than the subtending leaf, with a peduncle of 3–4 cm.
    Calyx
    Calyx-lobes distinctly pointed, the lower ones at least usually as long as the tube.
    Corolla
    Standard somewhat persistent.
    Stamens
    Stamens 3–6 mm. long.
    Fruits
    Pod up to 35 mm. long, strigulose with brownish or brownish and white hairs, ± 10-seeded; endocarp strongly spotted.
