    Habit
    Perennial herb up to 100 cm. tall; young stems patent-stellate-hispid, hairs 1–1·5 mm. long.
    Leaves
    Leaf-lamina up to 5 × 3 cm., ovate, somewhat sparsely to rather densely stellate-hispidulous on both surfaces, apex rather blunt to somewhat acute, margin serrate, base rounded 5–7-nerved; petiole up to 18 mm. long; stipules 5–7 mm. long, subulate, stellate-hispid.
    Flowers
    Flowers up to 1 cm. in diam. (small for the genus), white or pinkish, solitary, axillary; peduncle up to 7 mm. long, not conspicuously articulated.
    Epicalyx
    Epicalyx of 5–6 bracts; bracts 2 mm. long, filiform.
    Calyx
    Calyx 3–3·5 mm. long; lobes 3 × 1·5 mm., ovate-triangular, shortly connate at the base.
    Corolla
    Petals 5 × 2·5 mm., obovate-elliptic, stellate-setulose outside, glabrous inside.
    Stamens
    Staminal tube 2·5 mm. long; free parts of filaments less than 0·5 mm. long.
    Style
    Style-branches 1·5 mm. long.
    Fruits
    Capsule 6 mm. in diam., subglobose, minutely pubescent.
    Seeds
    Seeds with white silky floss.
