    Habit
    Tree 7–17 m. tall, the final branches terete or obscurely quadrangular, reddish-brown and then whitish-grey, with somewhat projecting lenticels.
    Leaves
    Leaves of mature trees with blades elliptic or broadly elliptic, very shortly cuspidate, 2–5 cm. long, 2–5 cm. broad, strongly coriaceous, with numerous adpressed scales on both surfaces but especially the lower.
    Inflorescences
    Panicles terminal and axillary on the final branches.
    Habitat
    Upland dry evergreen forest and scattered tree grasslands; 2460–2500 m.
    Distribution
    T6 endemic on Uluguru Mts.
