On cool grassy gully sides in deep limestone gorges under shade of cliffs; 2600-2850 m.

General Description

A small terrestrial herb 20-25 cm tall, with a glabrous stem. Leaves two or three, the lowermost sheathing, the upper two ovate-elliptic, shortly acuminate, 5.5-7 cm long, 2.2-2.7 cm wide, ciliolate, glabrous. Inflorescence one-flowered; peduncle glabrous below, pubescent below the bract; bract ovate, acuminate, 3.5-4 cm long, 1-1.5 cm wide. Flower (ragrant, the sepals and petals green-yellow lined with maroon, the lip waxy, cream or butteryellow lined inside with maroon; pedicel and ovary 1.8-2.4 cm long, shortly sparsely glandular-pubescent. Dorsal sepal ovate, acuminate, 1.9-3.2 cm long, 1.1-1.5 cm wide, shortly pubescent on outside; synsepallanceolate, acuminate and bifid at apex, 1.6-3.2 cm long, 0.8-1 cm wide, shortly pubescent on outside. Petals straight or slightly spirally twisted, linear-tapering, acuminate, 2.3-4.2 cm long, 0.5-0.8 cm wide, pubescent in basal part and along mid-vein on outer surface. Lip pitcher-shaped with a dilated mouth, very inflated and with noticeably incised veins, 2.4-3.3 cm long, 1.6-2 cm wide, the margin of the mouth narrow and toothed. Column 0.70.8 cm long; staminode shortly stalked, oblong-obovate, obtuse, 11.2 cm long, 0.5 cm wide, cucullate at apex, the lateral margins incurved.
