    Habit
    Perennial herb with usually elongated slender prostrate stems, rooting at the nodes whence arise tufts of leaves.
    Leaves
    Leaves not lobed or otherwise divided, lanceolate to broadly ovate or even reniform, apex rounded, obtuse, acute, or acuminate, base cordate, truncate, to slightly and broadly cuneate, margin dentate to nearly entire.
    Flowers
    Flowers single at the nodes, pedicels 1–8.5 cm. long, glabrous or adpressed hirsute.
    Calyx
    Sepals spreading, glabrous.
    Corolla
    Petals 4 to 7 mm. long, yellow.
    Fruits
    Achenes more or less fusiform, smooth.
    Habitat
    Marshy places, edge of streams, and other wet places in upland moor and moor grassland, 2700 to 4050 m.
