    Habit
    Ericoid shrub c. 2(?5) m. high, much-branched, erect, dioecious or monoecious.
    Branches
    Branches rigid, erect, densely antrorsely villous when young, the outer bark tending to flake off.
    Leaves
    Leaves trifoliolate, usually densely arranged on short shoots; leaflets up to 9 x 1 mm., rigid, glabrous, shining, oblanceolate with acute, red-tipped apex but appearing linear as the margins are usually strongly revolute so as almost to conceal the midrib; venation weakly pinnate; stipules triangular, scarious, glabrescent except at margins and apex or (in some Inyanga specimens) sparsely hairy on abaxial surface.
    Stamens
    Stamens usually (3)4(5) or, in Malawian specimens, (6)8.
    Stigma
    Stigma 1, almost sessile.
