    Habit
    Perennial herb much-branched near the base from a slender ± woody rootstock; stems several-30, ± unbranched, slender, erect or radiating, 7.5–15 cm. tall, bifariously pubescent in grooves which alternate at each successive internode or typically bristly pubescent all round.
    Leaves
    Leaves 1–3.2 cm. x 1.5–3 mm., linear to linear-elliptic or linear-lanceolate, acute and minutely mucronate, cuneate, sessile, glabrous to minutely scabrid at least at the margins; margins distinctly thickened similar to midrib but other venation not evident; stipule base 1 mm. long with 1–5 microsetulose subulate teeth up to 3 mm. long.
    Flowers
    Flowers 1–3 to 20 in Angola, in apical clusters and at 1–2 successive lower nodes, the 2 upper nodes often approximate; bracts leaf-like forming a kind of involucre with the main leaves.
    Calyx
    Calyx tube 1 mm. long; lobes 2, 3–4 x 0.5 mm., linear-lanceolate, acute.
    Corolla
    Corolla violet-purple or blue; tube narrowly funnel-shaped, 5–6 mm. long, 2.5 mm. wide at the throat; lobes 4 x 2 mm., triangular to ovate, acute or obtuse.
    Stamen and Style
    Style exserted 3–5 mm., sometimes shortly papillose; anthers just exserted.
    Fruits
    Capsule ovoid, 2.5 mm. long.
    Seeds
    Ripe seeds not seen.
