Roadsides; 900–1300 m
Note
Hazel records the flower colour as brownish red; other collectors state white with slight pinkish cream tint. This appears to have first been discovered by Petherick in the Sudan in Aug. 1862. Material of this taxon from Togo has been annotated S. rhombifolia subsp. alnifolia (L.) Ugborogho. This does have the same type of mericarp but very different foliage.
