Leaf-blades involute; 8-16 cm long; 4-6 mm wide; light green, or glaucous. Leaf-blade surface pubescent; hairy adaxially.

    Inflorescence composed of racemes. Racemes 1; single; straight; bilateral; 14-18 cm long. Rhachis flattened; scabrous on margins. Spikelet packing broadside to rhachis; regular; 2 -rowed. Rhachis internodes 6-11(-20) mm long. Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets sessile.

Principal lemma awn straight, or curved; 14-22 mm long overall. Palea 1 length of lemma; 2 -veined. Palea surface puberulous; hairy on back; hairy above. Palea apex emarginate, or truncate. Apical sterile florets resembling fertile though underdeveloped.
    Flowers
    Lodicules 2; membranous. Anthers 3; 2 mm long. Stigmas 2. Ovary pubescent on apex.
    Fruits
    Caryopsis with adherent pericarp; hairy at apex; apex unappendaged. Hilum linear.
