    Habit
    Small shrub; stem very densely and longly hirsute when young, glabrescent below.
    Leaves
    Leaves obovate, up to 3 x 2.5 cm., cuneate below into a thick petiole (up to 7 mm. long) with a marginal gland at the junction, upper two-thirds of margin sharply serrate, apex acute, densely ciliate on both surfaces.
    Indumentum
    Pedicel, bracteoles and calyx densely ciliate.
    Inflorescences
    Pedicel ± 2 mm. long; bracteoles elliptic-lanceolate, up to 15 mm. long, margin entire or shortly lobed.
    Flowers
    Flowers probably heterostylous.
    Calyx
    Calyx-tube 12 mm. long; lobes very narrowly oblong, 14 mm. long.
    Corolla
    Petals white, ± 30 mm. long.
    Filaments
    Filaments adnate for ± 5 mm., 20 mm. or more long.
    Pistil
    Ovary erect-pilose; style 28 mm. long.
    Fruits
    Capsule erect, ovoid, 7 x 5 mm., subangular, densely hirsute.
    Seeds
    Seeds 3–4 mm. long; aril 3–4 mm. long, margin and apex irregularly lobed.
    Habitat
    Dry sandy places; ± 25 m.
