    General Description
    Low-growing; stem erect; cataphylls ovate lanceolate, initially reddish, soon becoming fibrous. LEAVES: Petioles 4 or 5-angled, green, briefly sheathed, 2-3 dm [20 - 30 cm] long; geniculum 1 cm long, narrowly winged and wavy (undulate?); blade coriaceous, green and glossy above, paler below, broadly cordate-ovate, to 3.5 dm [35 cm] long and 2.5 dm [25 cm] wide; anterior lobe about 2.5 times longer than posterior lobes, posterior lobes semi-oblong, directed toward base or slightly inward, sinus narrow, acute. Basal veins 7 pairs, the 4 lowermost arcuate, coalesced into a posterior rib, naked in the sinus, turned upward near the margin and merging in the margin, the 2 uppermost pairs free, arcuate-ascending to the margin; the first pair of basal veins forming a collective vein, 2-3 mm away from margin; primary lateral veins 3 pairs. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle shorter than petiole, terete, somewhat keeled abaxially; spathe lanceolate, green, to 1 dm [10 cm] long, 3.5 cm wide; spadix 7-10 cm long, 8-9 mm thick, reddish, stipitate 1.5 cm.
