    Perennial aromatic herb or shrub up to c. 1.5 m high, appressed whitish-tomentose on branches, peduncles and inflorescence

    Leaf lamina very variable, 2.5–7.5 × 1.5–2 cm, ovate, oblong-ovate or oblong-lanceolate, acute or obtuse at the apex, rounded or cuneate at the base, coarsely serrate except at the base, chartaceous and somewhat greyish-green, very shortly pubescent and glandular on the upper surface, white to silvery appressed tomentose beneath; petiole 0.6–1.8 cm long, slender, tomentose

    Cymes axillary in upper leaves, dense, 1.5–3 cm in diameter, subglobose; peduncles 1–3.7 cm long, slender
    Calyx
    Calyx c. 2.5–3 mm long, 5-lobed; lobes lanceolate, acute, subequalling the tube
    Corolla
    Corolla bright blue, lavender-blue, mauve or purple, pubescent; tube longer than the calyx, subcylindric; limb c. 8 mm in diameter, with the 4 upper lobes spreading, rounded-ovate, obtuse, the lower lobe ± twice as long as the others, deflexed, fimbriate
    Stamens
    Stamens 2–3-times longer than the corolla
    Ovary
    Ovary pubescent; style subequalling the stamens, glabrous
    Fruits
    Capsule c. 2 mm long, hirsute.
