    Perennial; caespitose. Culms erect; 60-120 cm long; 2-3 -noded. Culm-nodes glabrous. Lateral branches lacking. Leaf-sheaths puberulous. Ligule a fringe of hairs. Leaf-blades flat, or involute; 20-40 cm long; 2-3 mm wide. Leaf-blade margins scaberulous.

    Inflorescence a panicle. Panicle open; elliptic; 15-30 cm long; 4-6 cm wide. Primary panicle branches ascending, or spreading; naked below. Spikelets solitary. Fertile spikelets pedicelled. Pedicels 0.5-1 mm long.
