    Habit
    Coarse perennial herb or weakly woody shrub, 1–2 m high; stems erect, sparsely arachnoid or glabrous.
    Leaves
    Basal leaves “large”, details unknown. Stem leaves ovate or ovate-lanceolate, 7–21 cm long, 3–8 cm wide, cordate at the base into a broadly winged, auriculate petioloid base to 7 cm long in lower leaves, upper leaves sessile, auriculate, slightly narrowed above the auricles or semi-amplexicaul in uppermost leaves, margins strongly dentate, apex shortly obtusely acuminate, apiculate; all leaves firmly membraneous, glabrous above, moderately to thinly arachnoid-pubescent beneath.
    Capitulum
    Capitula radiate, erect, very numerous in copious, congested terminal corymbs; stalks of the individual capitula sparsely shortly pubescent; involucre cylindrical, 5–6.5 mm long, 3–4 mm in diameter, slightly woolly at the base; bracts of calyculus 3–7, lanceolate to linear, narrow, 1.5–4 mm long, ± arachnoid or glabrous except at the margins, bearded and sometimes slightly expanded at the apex; phyllaries 7–12, 5–6 mm long, glabrous, shortly tapered to bearded apex.
    Florets
    Ray florets 4–5, pale to golden yellow, corolla tube 4.5 mm long, glabrous, rays 6–10 mm long, 2.5–3 mm wide, 4–6-veined; disc florets yellow, corolla 7–9 mm long, gradually expanded above the middle, glabrous, lobes 1–1.3 mm long.
    Fruits
    Achenes unknown, ovary of disc florets 1.5 mm long, glabrous; pappus 6.5–7 mm long, white.
    Habitat
    Montane forest clearing, Hagenia zone; 2100–2750 m
    Distribution
    T2 known from Ngorongoro, Mt Meru and Kilimanjaro
