    Habit
    Twigs compressed or 4-ribbed.
    Leaves
    Leaves opposite, subopposite or ternate, purplish when young; petiole 6–15 mm. long, sometimes reddish; lamina thinly coriaceous, oblong-elliptic, 6–15 cm. long, 2–3.5 cm. wide, pointed to acuminate at the apex, cuneate and slightly decurrent at the base, with 7–10 pairs of well-spaced curved-ascending lateral nerves.
    Inflorescences
    Umbels 2–6, mostly at nodes below current leaves; peduncle 2–13 mm. long; pedicels 4–8, 2–4 mm. long; bract-cup 0.7–1 mm. long, slightly gibbous, with a triangular or bifid limb 1–2 mm. long, ciliolate.
    Receptacle
    Receptacle 1.2–1.5 mm. long.
    Calyx
    Calyx 1–1.5 mm. long.
    Corolla
    Corolla pink, sometimes paler at extremities, the apical swelling turning blue-black before opening, 2.7–3.5 cm. long; apical swelling subhemispherical, slightly pointed, pentagonal, slightly reduplicate proximally, 3 mm. across, 2 mm. tall; basal swelling subglobose, 2–3 mm. long.
    Anthers
    Inner anther-thecae 1.5–2 mm. long; outer ones 1–1.2 mm. long.
    Pistil
    Style constriction 1.5–2 mm. long; stigma peltate, 1.2–1.5 mm. across.
    Fruits
    Berry globose or ellipsoid, ± 6 mm. long.
    Habitat
    Upland evergreen forest margins, on various hosts; 1350–1600 m.
